It's Done!

Wish I could say that about the PRSL but at least that is about to resume construction again.

What is "done" is the second proposed N Scale magazine article. It got delayed waiting for my photographer buddy (who is doing well in the hospital). My daughter (also a professional photographer) and I were plan B for pictures. The article and photos have been submitted (Thursday) and we are awaiting their response. If it is accepted I can soon get back to the PRSL.

We battled mightily with focal distance, light, and shadows. The nature of this article (operation) demanded a lot of step by step photos. Below are some leftovers.

Timber Creek Gets a Trestle

This blog has taken a back seat to trying to get the next N Scale Magazine article completed. The text has been completed for months and I've been waiting for my friend, Bob, the photographer to become available. He finally scheduled me into his calendar in February. Then it comes down to the week before and I find out he is delayed again. This time due to a pancreatic cancer scare. I just heard from his wife, the surgery was successful, and it appears they got it early. Thank the Good Lord, for that is a nasty thing to be involved with. It sounds as though the recovery from a that very long surgery is measured in months so in the meantime I decided it was finally time to bridge the Timber Creek between Westville and Brooklawn. The real bridge over the Timber Creek (seen below from the opposite side) was straight but I have run out of wall length and needed to curve mine around the corner. Originally it was a 3 track crossing, later reduced to 2 tracks (and currently a single track girder bridge). The power plant the PRSL used to power the passenger 3rd rail is also shown in the picture.
I took a single track ConCor timber trestle kit and kit-bashed trestle bents. I am sure the final product has no resemblance to a real functional timber trestle but it sort of looks like one and gets the tracks across the river to "infinity and beyond" so I am content for the time being. It still needs ladders and fire barrels and the terrain under it need to be built up but it crosses the river!
